What is Open Life Drawing?
Open Life drawing is drawing a model from life with freedom from instruction to trust your own instincts.
Artists at all levels in their life long journey are free to interact, exchange ideas and inspire without imposing personal views in a friendly environment without judgement.
Artist who regularly attend these sessions will clearly see vast improvements and hopefully not give up!
The way to improvement is to keep going and have fun!
I tell all life drawing people to leave the erasers at home! We are here to draw and not erase, (bad habit)!

Open Life Drawing sessions usually start with  10 poses of 2 minute gesture drawing.
We all have to draw very fast without analytical thinking. The music really helps!
Then we engage in (4) 5 minute poses, and  (2) 10 minute poses......depending on the model, and the group.
The evening progresses to at least (2 or 3) 30 minute tonal, or 30 minute color studies, your choice!

Artists can bring paper and supplies of their choosing, or even a canvas!
Sanguine conte is recommended as well as fabriano paper, and drop cloth if painting!
I also recommend using large sheets of paper, newsprint, craft paper, mural paper, and bring art clamp,
and art board! Easels and tables are provided!

Each year we all collaborate and have an Open Life Drawing Group show with a costume model!
I am looking forward to coordinating our next years exciting show, and recruiting life drawing enthusiasts
to join us at the show and draw a costume model!
